Get an N-Clex book and study daily. Get together with others who are doing the same and make a study group AND MAKE IT FUN!

Good luck! I practiced one hour a day with a book and passed the first time. (Back in the old days when we took it by paper and pencil.)

Welcome.

What is a pn, is that a practical nurse? Like an LPN?

I studied for the N-CLEX for two days, took it and passed the first time. I personally don't think you can study for it, you either know it by now, or you don't. Everyone thinks they are not ready and that they don't know enough, but most do.

Good luck!

You graduate in March, right? Usually we write in May, September, and January. Just remember that it is geared to training across Canada, so it will cover things not always permitted under your scope of practice. I don't believe that Canada has gone to computer testing like the Americans, so pencils and a good eraser are required.

I managed to graduate five days after one writing and four months before the next. So, I had plenty of time to find a job and work as a GPN until writing the exam. My union contract stipulated we got paid as top level NA's and once we brought in the notification of passing the NCLEX we got a lump sum back pay cheque on the wage difference.

You use your skills and those you don't use are the ones you study up on.

It was an all day (broken into 2 sections) test. Don't drink bottled water at the table, too much hassle to answer the call of nature. Chewing gum and mints are allowed.

I just remember when I wrote there were a lot of questions on IV's, rates, types, calculations, placement, problems, etc. In my job, LPN's weren't allowed near IV's but thats changed. There were also a lot of questions on peds.

There was also an area at the end of the test to ask what you thought of the test.

Get a good nights sleep, go out to lunch with a friend, and remember very few actually fail it. And remember your first answer is usually the right answer.

It took three weeks to get the result, and no the CLPN won't answer phone calls about your mark. You don't even get a score -- just Pass or Fail.
