ADVICE Anybody:(

I was just wondering if anyone of you have been in my shoes?!..the story is..I had 1 semester left and then I would have graduated with a BSN RN, BUT the school failed me on my final and I was 1.3 points short. I am kicked out of nursing school as of know and I have to re-apply to the same school if I want to go back..they might take me in or not. I went to school in Oklahoma and know I am back home in Texas, BUT THEY DO NOT ALLOW TRANSFER STUDENTS At the time, I can take my LPN exam and become an LPN, so thats my life as of now. If you have been there, please write to me and give me advice....I would appreciate it.

Well yes I have heard of this before, and I am so sorry there seems to be no simpathy from instuctors when it coems to this stuff, hence why 1/2 of my class is not with me this semester . I would advise you to go ahead and get your LPN, then see what schools offer a bridge program, some will require some minimal pre class, but at least you can start nursing. Some schools llike mine offer it on-line, if that helps at all.
good luck, don't give up, MBetty

MOST NURSING SCHOOLS WILL NOT KICK YOU OUT UNTIL YOU FLUNK 2 CLASSES; SO DID YOU FAIL ONE CLASS OR TWO? AND WHICH SCHOOL DID YOU GO TO IN OKLAHOMA, BECAUSE I LIVE IN OKC.

sorry for your tough experience. I would definitely take the LPN exam, and work as an LPN to get some field experience, then attempt a bridge program, perhaps then you can get credit for most of the classes that you have already taken successfully. Good Luck, keep us posted!

What on -line school are you going too?...I thought of university of phoenix or even excellsior because they both are on-line schools, BUT the only problem is that some hospitals won't hire you with an on line degree?? I called the board of TX and they let you take the exam but no guarantee for a job. let me know about your school and thanks for the encouragement and positive attitude..it helps ALOT

I went to the University of Oklahoma health science center nursing school in the city. Yes, I did fail 2 classes..BUT what I did not find fair is that the school put all classes on the internet, including the high acuity classes. I called other nursing schools and asked them if they do the same....they told me that the easy nursing classes are internet based BUT the hi acuity classes are in class so that way the teachers can teach the students. On top of that, we the students paid more money for the internet classes. It seems as if the students paid more money to the school just to teach ourselves. Which nursing school did you go to? Keep me posted and thanks for the reply.

The problem darling is Texas.... My husband was looking at taking an on-line nursing course and 2 places were flagged to be the most difficult for clinical testing and accepting on-line course work, Texas being one of them. I go to CCD which is the only Colorado College to offer the on-line nursing program, it is only available for LPN to RN status students, and they are so unorganized I wouldn't recomend them. I am stuck because I am almost done (maybe) . There are RN classes you can take via mail, these programs how ever do not have much structure and again Texas is flagged for being the hardest state to clinical test at, but I will ask my husband again what program he thought was best, if you like .I would continue the search, there has to be away, don't give up.

I was in my second semester of RN clinicals when I had to have surgery. It would have been an 8 month wait before I could pick up that clinical again so I challenged the first LPN semester courses and graduated with the practical nursing diploma. I am now back to getting my RN and am using RUE to do it...they are basically a middle man for Excelsior College (formally Regent). All of my prereqs. transfer. Going through RUE is not mandatory but I like it b/c they "spoon feed" and with being a single mom and working I need all the help I can get. Don't give up! You might as well sit for the LPN boards while working on your RN, it is great experience. Good luck! *edited to add that I found info on another reply post you may find interesting on excelsior...intro section under bhamlpn 's greeting...best wishes.
