I don't know how long she has been on it, but would not recommend d/c'ing the medication without medical supervision.

I would not call it "overkill" to be on this medication - she may have needed it at one time for pain relief - but if she no longer does, or wants to try other options to control the symptoms, she should do so under medical supervision.
