Herzing college anyone?

Does anyone know about the nursing program at Herzing College in Madison? I am currently a prenursing student at uw madison finishing up my preqreqs, I have had trouble deciding on whether to get my adn at a tech college or at Herzing College (which would begin this summer). However, i would be leaving the uw which is so competitve to get into. I don't know if i should get my adn and work as an rn and then go back to get my bachelors or stay with the 4 yr college (which will be longer than4 years). any advice would be great, I am in my second year here. Thanks

Hello,
I do not know anything about the Herzing College, but with the tech college you would be able to get your ADN much quicker and much cheaper granted you have been on a waiting list or there is no waiting list, which is highly unlikely.

I currently have one semester left in my tech college program, but I am also taking classes at UWGB towards my bachelors degree. One possibility that you may want to consider is to keep taking a class or two at the UW college while you attend the tech college, that way you don't loose your acceptance to UW Madison. Plus, the tech schools are now offering general education credits, which I am also taking. They are much cheaper (one-third the cost of the UW courses) and most can be taken online. Good luck with your journey! Feel free to contact me if I can help you any further.

Re: Herzing college anyone?

This is a bit late (I always forget we have our own forum), but my neighbor (who I'm buds with) is going to Herzing right now.

Pros: 1) it's such a new program that she got in without any waiting list (keep in mind this could change at any time) & 2) she feels that she's getting an excellent education

Cons: It is incredibly expensive. I think she told me that she pays $575/credit. I know she told me that her 2 year education there is going to cost her $30,000 by the time she's done.

Good luck. Been reading your posts - IMHO, I think you should stay at UW.

Re: Herzing college anyone?

I have to tell you as a student the program is terrible, bad teachers, the curriculum is being written the night before lecture, teachers are contradicting the textbook, and now the accreditation is not going to happen for a year or maybe more. I am graduating in MAy 2008 and my degree will be useless because the school wont get accreditation for now...I am going to an RN-BSN program, I have $50k in student loan debt and I was planning on working in May as an RN, but now I am taking out another $30k to get my bachelors so I can have a chance to pay back my loans and eat for the next 10 years or so.....

I can't understand why someone would spend good money to get a degree from a college that doens't have accreditation for that degree. That's jsut not a smart thing to do. IMO, you should have done a bit more research before you went into debt. Good luck!

THanks, I am not an idiot, the school assured us that the accreditation process would be "no problem, just take the NCLEX and pass, and the school will get its accreditation. that is how it works for all new schools" it sounded resonable at the time, and why would they lie to us, it is a school that has been around since the 60's. I should have done more research but without knowing exactly where the school was in the accreditation process there was really no way to forsee this.

Didn't say you were an idiot. Just gave my opinion.

Re: Herzing college anyone?

I attended the courses of this college in Montreal - an horrible experience. I was confronted with huge lies and pretty rude behaviour coming from staff members, teachers. Almost all my classmates had such a hard time accepting what was going on - yet we had already invested a lot of money
