Unhappy St. Luke's closing in May

After rumors, speculation, and gossip it was made official yesterday. St. Luke's in Bluefield is closing after 100+ years of service to the community and surrounding area. PCHA is looking into other uses for the facility, LTAC, Psych, or veterans care has been discussed. The employee have been assured by PCHA they will be assisted to find other jobs. I think this is sad, this 100 bed facility, that is really quite new and modern needs to be put to some good use. Perhaps all three of the options mentioned could be incorporated for use to this area. Jobs are scarce in this area, people travel long distances to work, so I am sure there will be much interest in the future of this facility.
