Where do I go first?

I'm graduating next year, and I'm looking at my options...I've found a hospital that I think will be a good fit, but they don't accept new grads into the ED. I don't want to be in the ED as a new grad anyway because I want some experience. What I want to know is this--not being able to go to the ED first (but wanting to be there eventually), which kind of unit do you think would be most beneficial for a new grad? Med-Surg, Tele, ICU? This hospital accepts new grads everywhere except the ED, so it looks like I would have a lot of options if I chose to work there. Any advice from experienced ED nurses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

(I'm not looking for a discussion on new grads--should they or should they not be allowed in the ED...just advice)

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for posting this question. I'm in a very similar situation & looking for advice, as well.
