Update: Dress Codes for the ER

Thank you fellow nurses for giving me another insight on the dress codes post I posted a couple days back..

I have an update. And to my fellow STL people, the hospital is not St Johns. It is St Anthony's. I put in my PRN contract that I would navy scrubs. When asked about it by my nurse manager, I told her if she did let me work in navy, I would pick up else where. Well, she accepted it as they finally put the ER on diversion due to lack of staff. She signed the contract....

I know it is petty, but I stood up for something, whether you guys feel it was necessary or not, I did not back down. I had a backbone. This must have encouraged others to do so, because they have a staff meeting just to re-discuss the dress code. (the dress code is relatively new)

One small step for me, one large step for nursing!!

Brandie

Wonderful! If one person can do it we can all do it if we just have the courage. I would definitely choose another hospital if they required all white, or an all new wardrobe for each assignment.
