Hello, I am going to be graduating in May of this year. I am excited but a little anxious about being set free- on my own. Does anyone have any advice on how to alleviate some of this anxiety and make the transition from student nurse to professional nurse a little easier? Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks, Maveric

Congratulations/ This is a great time to be a nurse. The nursing shortage means more opportunities for everyone, especially new grads. Continue to study. Look for opportunities to serve on committees and bring new info and opinions. Get certified in your specialty. Take ACLS, PALS and any other xtra class you need. Thanks for the response. I plan to further my schooling. I have been hired on at a local hospital on the surgical floor. I will work nights at first, but I think it will be a good experience to begin with. I think it will help me get a good grasp on my basic nursing skills and care. Anyway, thanks again. You're welcome. A surgical floor is a great place to start. You'll find a wide array of pts and be able to quickly get solid organizational skills. I just came off of nine years of nights a few months ago and I really liked it. Keep talking. Judi
