Stroke Scales

We are revising our stroke protocols and wondering what stroke scales other facilities are using to assess patients (NIH, Cincinnati, etc).

Re: Stroke Scales

We use a modified NIH scale. MDs use the entire NIH scale and protocol orders are tied to the score.

Re: Stroke Scales

We do the shortened NIH stroke scale in the ED; the MEND exam...short and thorough.

Re: Stroke Scales

For those of you who use a modified NIH scale, is it a reasonable length to post here? Or is there an online resoure for it?

We are looking for something relatively short as compared to the NIH scale, but more indepth than the Cincinnati scale, and we want all nurses to be able to use this assessment when a patient with stroke symptoms presents to the ED.

Thanks for your responses.
