Hey all! I need your advice ...
I am returning to bedside nursing, after a stint working with physicians' groups. I have an interview Monday in a brand new ER. (located in the suburbs, right outside Louisville)

I have NEVER worked ER .. only critical care (ICU/CCU/OHRR). I'd like some ideas of questions to ask the nurse manager, so that I do not walk into a bad situation.

"How many rooms is a nurse assigned to on a typical day?" Is there a charge nurse without patients to care for? Any float nurses?"

"How many nurses work in the ED? How many have left during the last 12 months?"

"How far away are security guards? Are there panic buttons and/or some way to get them to respond quickly? Is there a police dept close by that responds quickly?"
