Most silly reason for being called in the office?

Okay...this morning I got called into 'the office' aka "nurse manager's office" for the most stupid complaint:
Forgot to label IV tubing on a patient we sent to the cath lab!! I was so furious that after a busy 16 hour shift, she had the nerve to call me in the office and 'counsil' me on this.

Other half of the story: My patient had a door-to-balloon time of 37 minutes....a hospital record!!! But I recieved no recognition because my IV tubing not labeled!!! the cath lab was so impressed!!! however, my nurse manager was not:buge yes:: bugeyes::ban ghead:

Any good ones?

Brandie,

Just some thoughts:

Your manager had the old record. You made her look bad.

To bring this to your attention, she is petty.

She will not EVER back you up. She will, however use you as a scapegoat.

D2B of 37 minutes...awesome!

Manager's half of story: "I've been told that you're visiting several of the firehouses, eating meals with them, and being inappropriate with the firemen while they're on duty."

The truth: I was overheard talking about my recent vacation back home, during which I ate lunch at a fire station with old school friends. (Oh, and did I mention that my dad was the chief?)

Someone overheard part of a story, injected their own ideas, and suddenly I was a wh()re!

I'm sorry you had to go through that, but it sounds too familiar. One day I was pregnant, when I was asking about who has kids that would be interested in something going on that day. BTW I"m not pregnant. My favorite was that I didn't give to counts on my iv fluids in report. Someone emailed my boss to tell them that and I was "made aware" at the nurses station by my manager. I haven't seem my boss in three weeks and this is the first thing that she says. I was mad the whole shift. I guess if someone is talking about you then they are leaving someone else alone.

For posting a team review schedule 6 weeks in advance. (I made the favorite pet look bad.) I ended up demoting to a different classification because of this craziness. Now I am a nurse. (So there to that manager.)

(not an ER type, but if I can still play..)

Working an occupational health clinic with only two nurses, two seating areas at the nurses' station.

Used a label maker to put my name on a stapler (from home) and left it at my "usual" seat and computer.

Written up for "being too territorial".

Yes, really...

I gotta ask. Did you try to dispute the "stapler from home thing" or let it go on record

Re: Most silly reason for being called in the office?

Well, considering it was followed in rapid time by allegations that I was a rotten phlebotomist (taught it for years!), rude to "people" (no specifics ever provided) and didn't know Occupational Health and Worker's Comp (I was certified) ...

I belatedly got the "don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out" message. [My job had been outsourced to this new company, even though I was working at the same plant I'd run single-handedly for two years.] I was too much of a threat, I see now..

But all's well that ends well-- have a GREAT job now, back in Home Health with ethical professionals. It was a tough year, though...when you go from "walking on water "to "not passing water", you really wonder what the heck's going on at first!!

Re: Most silly reason for being called in the office?

Got called in for my "poor attitude". You have to understand...I'm a person that walks around smiling all the time. There's not a mean bone in my body. When I asked for some example of this "poor attitude", the manager couldn't provide one. I got the vague "other people have complained" line. I quickly realized I was being railroaded and called in my manager's boss as a witness. When the manager's boss heard the complaint he said, "I've never seen her be anything but pleasant to everyone". After that, the manager realized he didn't have a leg to stand on and let it go. He spent the next few months being unusually nice to me. I spent the next few months getting a new job.
Happiness is the best revenge.
