not charting a pt's I/O completely- left out IV total- but rapid responsed her at 7 am due to worsening CHF and decreased LOC

Re: Most silly reason for being called in the office?

Manager called me in and said : " one of the nurses was upset because you were not making eye contact with her when she was giving you report" I didn't realize it was offensive to look at a nurses' note ( meds given, vitals, etc) of a patient on whom I am getting report.

Re: Most silly reason for being called in the office?

This was 20 years ago. Had a DON who was a brand new RN, she had been LPN for a few years, put in as DON as soon as she graduated. Fresh from a Bachelor's degree program.
Called me into the office one evening and reamed me for being in nursing for the paycheck, that I had left my calling, all this pie in the sky stuff.
Um, leaving my calling, leaving my first love???? Isn't that in the Bible, pertaining to backsliding???? A job on night shift in a short staffed, filthy, hole in the wall nursing home IS in no way comparable to backsliding from one's religion.
In nursing for the paycheck. Well, I guarantee you I am not coming in there and taking all this crap for free!!!! And are YOU not taking that paycheck as soon as it's handed to you??? Oh you are, well, imagine that!!!!
I let things get to me. Hmmm, I had 39 residents and one aide. I gave all the meds at 9p, 12m, and 6a, did all the treatments, did all the charting, did all the accuchecks, talked with visiting family members who had concerns, took delivery from the two different pharmacies that delivered, helped serve and feed supper and collect trays, do rounds with the aide every two hours, changing beds and people AND had to run to the other two floors if their QMAs needed help or to send a resident out. AND I LET THINGS GET TO ME??? Do tell!!!
I still don't feel bad for leaving that place.
