I'm a southern woman too, born and raised in Georgia, now living in West Texas. Usually my accent isn't much of a problem; in fact a lot of people don't realize I'm not from here.
Anyway, a few months ago I had a patient who was from Montana. Her husband is a native of this area and they were visiting on their way to the coast. She came in for an acute problem but we got to discussing her cholesterol. I told her that I usually recommend fish oil. Well,
I know that's what I said. It took a couple of tries before
she knew that was what I said! Not sure what she thought she heard!!
