Having stents was the worst part of the whole thing for me. Taking 'em out was about as uncomfortable as having a Foley cath D/C'd.....it wasn't fun, but they felt a lot better out than in! Some people aren't bothered by the stents though, so don't judge the experience by me.

Good luck on the cysto. I've had one done recently with the state of the art equipment. Not bad at all. I had no meds and came through just fine. I insisted his female assistant not be present, and the doc was fine with that. Made it easier for me. The assistant was not happy, oh well...

I hated my stents. You know the feeling you get in your throat when you first get sick -- it hurts, itches and tickles all at the same time and you cannot do anything that will make it stop? That's what the stents felt like to me.
Taking them out was a piece of cake, they shoot water into you and pull the stents out, as well as put some numbing stuff too.
Be sure you ask the doc what kind of stone it is and what foods may contribute to the cause.
I had three kidney surgeries in three months, lthotripsy, nephrostomies and finally opened up the kidney and cleaned it out & irrigated it with an ocean of fluids, each time the stones were larger and uglier. It's been a year since the last one and I have had no more, oh thank you God!!!!
Hope your procedure goes well, and that you feel better soon!!!!

Hey all, I just got home, it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be, they gave me consious sedation for the lithotripsy and the cystoscopy, demerol and versed and benadryl, and a little phenergan for nausea, they also gave me some dilaudid in the recovery room.

Im still really sleepy. Im going back to bed in a minute. They broke the stone up and retrieved the pieces, there going to send them to be analyzed, they also put in the stents, it was really quick only felt like I was in the procedure room for 10 mins. the wonders of meds lol.
