ED Orientee Handbook

I'm looking at putting together a handbook of various information for orientees to our unit. Does anyone have examples they could share?

Thanks,
Josh

Re: ED Orientee Handbook

I started out of nursing school in the ED a year ago, one of the nurses who has been here for a long time put together an ED SURVIVAL GUIDE, it is pocket sized and a wonderful resource. I can't give you a copy but generally speaking it is set up in different sections,

general info with phone numbers for the hospital, and conversion tables

hen alphabetically info on the most common presentations: most critical info to know with initial plan of care, info on ABG, EKG's, labs, vent settings, codes, different assessment scales and most important protocols

alphabetically most critical drugs with critical info, concentrations and dilutions, with how fast to give

It is such a great tool to have, she motivational quotes, jokes, and other tips. I am so glad to have it in my bag of tricks!. I use it all the time!
