Well, I did it! I put in my transfer, and landed a day shift Level I Trauma Center position! I haven't decided if I want to specialize in the Peds or Cardiac ER, or work in the Critical Care/trauma er. So we'll see how it goes!

Re: Desperately need your advice ED nurses!

You need to do what your heart tells you to do. You may make the change, find it is not to your liking and move on. At least you tried. If you don't try you will never, ever know if that was where you belonged. I personally never wanted to be an ER nurse but over 20 years aago I moved to a small town and ER was the only opening. It was the best move I ever made, I have never looked back. I have assisted several friends in moving to an ER setting. Some of them loved it and are still there, others did not. The only why to find out what is truely for you is to try and than if necessary try again.

Good luck.

Debbye
