Building Bridges

Thank you all for your input in the "War with the Floors" post. In doing my research and reading these posts-two common themes have emerged. The issue here really isn't about the floors not taking report or the ER waiting until the end of a shift to send a patient to the floor, it's about respect and power (or lack of both)

We are all overworked and short staffed-told to do more with less. Morale is a big problem in most departments. Power (or control) is out of our hands as more regulations are heaped on all of us. Rather than work together as collegues we choose to fight the wrong battles. We need to build bridges. We've chosen our specialties for a reason-we need to respect each others choices and work together to provide excellent care for our patients.

Do you agree? Have another point of view?

Thanks again,
Pam
