I am not an ER nurse, but I would say YES! And, if for some reason, some places do not require it, WHY?!!
ER and ICU are probably the two most likely places to need it regularly.
I am in the OR, and at my hospital, it is not required for the circulators to have ACLS, but I have it anyway. I like having the certification and training up to date, so I can be of most use when I am needed. Some ORs do require it.

Absolutely ... I don't see any way a nurse could function in any ER without ACLS.

The hospital I am doing my clinicals at requires that all new ER nurses obtain ACLS within 6-12 months of hire.
