Denton State School. We toured the facility when I was in RN school. They had great benefits, etc.

Re: MR/DD Facilities

Stay as far away from the State SChool as possible . I worked there for 4 years. They do have good benefits but the work vs. pay totally BLOWS!!!!!!!!! There is no overtime, it gets roled into sick or vacation time. 4 years ago RN's on the lower level homes( great problems) were paid the most (2600 monthly). They had to take care of a min. of 38 residents.

If you like to be stabbed in the back or have people telling you your not doing things "right" (their way) then you would fit in fine. When I get my LVN or RN I will NEVER NEVER NEVER work for Denton State School or any other MHMR center.

Wow Dusty, thanks....it's nice to get an "insider's opinion" on those things. I would never work for a MHMR, not my thing. I get enough geriatric psych in LTAC...lol.

There's a place in Arlington right across from Kindred hospital. I think it's called oakwood. (something with 'wood') One of my classmates went to work there after graduation and he says it's not 'too bad'

Are you referring to the psychiatric facility in Arlington that is known as Millwood Hospital?
