Yes, there are several people here. Check out the Brookhaven board on the General Nursing Student board: http://allnurses.com/forums/f50/broo...ew-194013.html
We'd love to hear from you.

Hi, I'm a pre-nursing student, need to take microbiology, and wanted to ask if anyone could suggest a professor at Brookhaven, El Centro, or Mountainview that is fair and good at teaching.

Thanks!

I am a nursing student at Brookhaven in my first semester and I actually took Micro at Richland College with Jackie Reynolds and she was very fair and so interesting. I loved her lectures. She has a really great sense of humor.
Best of luck!

Re: Brookhaven

Thanks "liketobeanurse2", it's great that you are in the nursing program at Brookhaven. Are you going into your first semester this fall or did you complete your first semester? How is it going? Any advice you can give, I'd really appreciate it. I was going to try to apply for the nursing program at El Centro, but is Brookhaven better?

Good Luck to you!

I am actually part of a pilot program at BHC. Officially, my first semester began in May and goes to Aug. So my 2nd sem will start at the end of August. But.....technically My nursing class has been doing skills labs since Jan 2007. The reason being is that the assoc degree (ADN) nursing program is accelerated (16 months) to begin with, but they decided to try a new (pilot) program that would begin in the summer but that means that it is even MORE condensed than usual so we had to complete a skills lab prior to starting our "official" first semester.
The only advice that I am qualified to give right now would be, try to take care of yourself so as not to get sick. eat right and get plenty of rest (which I preach, not practice-haha). If you get ill, you wind up missing such valuable lecture or lab and it is so hard to get that vital info once you miss it coming directly from the horses mouth so to speak. And if you are married or have kids, make sure that your family understands the kind of commitment it really takes in order to succeed in this program. You will rarely see them and it will be hard on everybody, but try to keep in mind that it will all payoff in the long run. Just try to have 1 night a week with the spouse or kids or both that you set aside to reconnect with them. That is most helpful. And remind yourself daily why you want to be a nurse.
I hope some of this helps. I truly wish you well. I am sure you will do great.

Re: Brookhaven

Thanks a lot for your advice! It is most helpful. I am fortunate that my husband is very supportive of what I want to do.

I wish you the very best!

Re: Brookhaven

Yes, I go to Brookhaven and I just applied for Spring '08. Let me know if you have any questions. I have learned a lot in my many years at Brookhaven....

And for Micro, my lab teacher was Terry Cannaris and my lecture teacher was some lady that I could barely understand. The lab teacher was great though. I really enjoyed the class.
