Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

I would like to know if anyone has any info/opinions on this program also. I've been checking into the TSU program that has been extended to Vol State community college. Anyone know anything about this program or if it's difficult to get into?

Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

I had checked into that program. They don't have a lot of requirements, I do know you have to have either high school or college chemistry. The lady in charge at Vol State was a bit snooty IMO. We decided to come to West TN and I'm very happy with my program here.

You would think Middle TN being so big there would be more associates programs but it's kinda limited. personally if I was going to school in middle TN I would choose MTSU.

If you contact the school though they will send you out all the program requirements. I think it's on the vol state website too.

There ya go...that is there requirements page.

Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

I have heard from several people not to attend this program because they are on the verge of losing their accrediation. Not sure if this is true or not.... I would definitely look into it.

Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

East Tennessee State University has a good BS program. They no longer have an AD program. I highly recommend ETSU! That was my school of choice.

I am hoping to start the distance MSN/FNP program through ETSU in May. They have been filling up pretty quickly but I have had my application in since September.

I graduated from TSU's weekend program in 1994. I thought it was a good program back then. Not sure about now... I've never heard of an EASY nursing program. Think they are all hard.

Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

Hello

I am taking my pre nursing basic classes at Vol State right now with hopes of getting into the fall 2007 nursing program and only have the nursing classes left. I figured that would make it much easier on me.

I think Vol state has been super friendly. I won't office apply for TSU and their nursing program until around the end of August. My advisor said to wait until after the fall semester started to apply.

I know you have to have 1yr chem in high school with C or better or 1 semester college chemistry with C or better. And all developmental classes out of the way if possible. They also recommend taking as many of the basic classes as you can before you start.

Hope this helps
Sherry

Re: Anyone in the Tennessee State University Program?

I just graduated from TSU's BSN program this past December. The program was extremely difficult, but as someone else said, what nursing program isn't? The program was just reaccredited by the NLNAC. Overall, I enjoyed the program. I wish, however, that they were a little more organized; we went through two program directors and a new dean before I graduated. I think they are really beginning to make a lot of improvements in the program for future classes. Also, I think that admission is becoming more difficult since so many people are applying (more people only means more competition). Your GPA and NET test scores are a huge factor when they review your application. I would recommend TSU's program to anyone interested.
