RN to BSN in and around Pittsburgh...

I got accepted into Pitts RN to MSN program but I have a problem. I didn't have to take chemistry in nursing school b/c my high school credit counted as it. SO....when I got into Pitt they were like you need to take a college chemistry which is a problem b/c it is only offered Mon, Wed, Fri with the lab on Thursday. It will be hard for me to do this b/c I work full time Mon thru Friday in the OR.

My OR I work in has a 2 to 10 shift which I could do and then go to class in the morning before work, but my boss was like I suggest you find another school that doesn't need you to take chemistry. That really made me mad because I have always wanted to go to Pitt and was so happy I got in and now it seems like I have to pass it up and find another school.

SO....the reason for my post is does anyone know of any schools like slippery rock or whatever around Pittsburgh or in Pittsburgh that might not require I take Chem??

I'd look to see if our schools in area have evening Chemistry programs rather than trying to change nursing program...look at Community colleges too.

There are a half-dozen places to take a modified Chemistry class; i.e. Butler CCC, Westmoreland CCC, CCAC, etc. Often you can find a class that meets one day per week with one lab per week.

Re: RN to BSN in and around Pittsburgh...

BCCC only offers chem 1 three days a week plus lab during the day which I cannot do since I work full time daylight mostly. CCAC offers it in the summer in the evenings which would be PERFECT BUT...I called the lady at Pitt today and she told me it's not the one that they accept, of course! SOOO, she is supposed to email me the courses they take at CCAC and I will have to see if it is in the evenings at all. CCAC seems to have more evenings available than BCCC. BCCC has chem 2 online and they meet every tuesday evening which would work but Chem 1 isn't offered like that so I just can't seem to win here....

Well I started in the OR last week and their shifts are 7-3, 9-5 or 2-10 and I was going to just tough it out and work 2-10 during the week so I could have the days open for class and when I suggested that to her she was like I would just find another program that would be too hard. I didn't like the response because she's not the one doing it, I am. Anyways though I talked to the lady at Pitt again and I got the courses I'm supposed to take at CCAC and looked them up on their site and they offer both of them in the evenings ones in the summer one I'd have to take in the fall so I think it will still all work out in the end.

Which CCAC? My daughter will be taking Chem 2 at Boyce this summer.
