Anyone out there with some help for a nurse of 20 years, kids, bills, no other idea what to do? anyone ?
how about home health? i found it to be a totaly different way of nursing, much more relaxed. you take one pt at a time and you almost feel like your own boss most of the time.
also i have heard of several RN's going into pharmacutical (sp?) sales and getting good pay and liking it.

i'm in the pittsburgh subburbs also, but i'm doing med/surg prn float duty in a hosp. right now. i like it most of the time... but you know nursing is always more than bedside work! i graduated in AR, and have worked in TN, OH and PA.

so where and when for lunch??? count me in!

Anyway, I'm wondering what kinds of hours everyone else is working, where people are working, what kinds of skills you're all learning, and your current job satisfaction, etc. Right now, I work quite a number of hours in a cardiovascular surgical unit. It's pretty good experience. Sometimes I find I get taken advantage of to work a lot of hours, but most times I don't mind, cuz I get a lot of good experience. I may move on to CRNA school someday. Any body else have grad. school aspriations?

Anyway, if you're a recent grad. or from PA, join the discussion, and let people know what's out there for new grads.

Central PA nursing student

Hi everyone,
I will start a one yr LPN program in Aug. Been a sahm for over 10 years to 3 kids. I'm interested in info on any PA Lpn-Bsn programs. I think that distance learning would be doable for me as well.
Hope to hear how all you nurses are doing. Feel free to pm me.

Ted

Question Looking for info-Please help! B^)

Hello, all! I might have a potential move to Philadelphia coming up, and I know virtually nothing about Pennsylvania, let alone Philadelphia. More of a country girl than a city girl even tho I am working in New Haven, CT right now. Working in an MICU currently (only for the last 3 months), though I have been an RN for 5 years (med/surg). If anyone could reply or PM me any info whatsoever, it would be greatly appreciated... Interested in finding out good places to work in the Philadelphia area, good places to live, how much RN's make in the hospitals, anything anyone is willing to share. Thank you so much if you do help.... I will greatly appreciate it!

WOW! am I the only nurse in southcentral PA who posts on this board? I live and work in Chambersburg, (30 mi from Gettysburg) in Franklin County. Oh I forgot, I work in a very busy ER...going into my 8th year in the ER (11 years in nursing) I should have my head examined.

I am not a native Pennsylvanian, nor am I new to nursing. Originally a westerner (born in Montana and raised in Colorado) I have found that I am tooooo far from the mountains!

Hello! I Live and work in western PA. I work as RN/Supervisor in a local nursing home. Not a new grad, either. I've been working almost 5 years as an RN now. I worked as a nurse's aide prior to that. I'd also love to hear from fellow nurses in PA.

[quote=jkaee]Hi all! I live in northern Montgomery Co. (close to the Berks county line)....went to college in Reading, PA. Raised in Hatboro, PA (near Willow Grove, Warminster, Horsham, etc.)

Hi Jennifer! I used to live in Bucks County, in a little town called Yardley. Now I live in ALtoona, Pa. Work in a LTC facility, 2nd shift, full time. I'm a float right now, but in the middle of Jan, I'll be starting a new FT position to replace someone who's retiring. I grad this past Aug, & just passed boards this month, so I"M a VERY new grad!!!
