Question western PA nurse

Hello! Long-time nurse here, about 75 miles north of pittsburgh. Doing supervisory work at nursing home right now. Am hitting the wall lately. Feel real burned out. Never thought I would consider getting out of nursing, but am at that point now........
Anyone out there with some help for a nurse of 20 years, kids, bills, no other idea what to do? anyone ?

What about switching to the other side... working for the state inspection agency or ombudsman?? How about teaching?

Have looked at state inspection and teaching. Have associates degree. Not sure about qualifications. Also, do not have the finances to go back to school at this time. Still have to 2 kids at home and one in college. Anyone who can help me on info about either..... I would appreciate.

Hi there all! I'm a newbie RN, after 11 years as an LPN. It's nice to see posts with familiar, close-to-home topics!
I live between Johnstown and Somerset.........just minutes away from "the Mine" where the 9 miners were trapped and rescued.
Anyone have any updates on where our state legislature is with any labor/staffing bills relating to nursing? I just joined the PSNA.....maybe I'll get some updates from them......

Hi DV: Glad to hear you joined PSNA. You will be able to access much info on legislative issues important to nursing right on the website: http://www.psna.org Also, sign up for the listserv there and you will get email messages on current events. There are many important bills in PA legislature, including mandatory OT, whistleblower protection, title recognition for CNS. It's a great time to get active!

I graduated from York Hospital in '79 (now Wellspan) when it was still a diploma program. Would love to hear from other grads from there, also anyone working at the hospital now. Even tho I live in the south now I still miss PA.

I Miss Pa!

Hi Pa Nurses! I was born in Phila and raised in Cheltenham, PA, which may as well be conisdered Philadelphia. I went to Temple (for a BS and then my BSN), worked at Temple and really miss Temple!!! I had to move because of my husband's job and I have since worked in MD( in CCU), which was really nice. While I worked in MD, I would drive to PA every other weekend and do PRN at Temple while my husband was moonlighting as a resident at another area hospital. I learned a lot there and met many great people there. I still visit whenever I go back home. We're in TN right now and moving to NC (permanently, finally) in July. But, no matter where we live, my greatest experiences were at Temple. (Oh, I met my husband there, too ).
