hi other pa nurses. i work ob (straight nights) in a small town near york. it's nice here. i want to do grad school for nursing ed or perinatal. i've been a nurse for 16 years. i am thinking about distance ed or maybe york college. the folks at york are not the friendliest when i've called for info. i wouldn't need the gre though. anyone have any experience at york college? plmk. i graduated from an adn program in md and have a bsn from the u of md. money is a real issue. my hospital only pays 2500/yr.for education. it's frustrating. the grad school options close by are limited. i'd love to meet other pa nurses old and new. i see someone else worked for wellspan. how was that our hospital is thinking of allying w/ them.

I have lived in PA all my life. Grew up in the NE, about 5 miles from NY state border. I have lived in York for the past 5 years and currently work for Wellspan but am in a time of transistion. Not sure where I want to go from here. Recently have been considering going back for my masters?? Who knows. Eventually my husband and I hope to move back up north , we both like country living much better .

today, enjoying the sunshine for one of the few times northwestern pa. has seen the sun this summer---- 29 year graduate of a diploma school of nursing here in pa.--- have lived in other places in the country. I truly count my blessings to live in Kinzua country, where I see nature in the changing of the seasons, where I drive to work with deer, bear, grouse, turkey, foxes, coyotes, osprey, songbirds, doves, hawks, porcupines, and all God's creatures, and wildflowers and trees. I've worked in Mental Health the entire time I've been a nurse. I am at the half century point and I'm apprehensive about what that means for me career wise and life wise. I've been working as a nurse longer than some of the nurses I work with have been alive. We learn things from each other. I still enjoy working in the Mental Health field. I see a healthcare crisis looming here in Pa. that's different from other parts of the country in that we have an aging population and our young people don't have the desire to stay here in Pa. I myself left Pa. when I was in my early 20's and didn't return until I was almost 40. I was born & raised in the Pgh. area, have relatives in the Pocono area. This is a great state, great people!!

Wouldn't it be weird if some of us already knew each other?? Hope to hear from more nurses...ocean blue I am in your neck of the woods!
