Re: Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

I am a recent grad and moving from CA to PA, can anyone help me answer some questions re PA nursing???

1) Is there a nursing ratio?
2) What is a good hospital in the philly area to work for as a new grad, which ones have new grad programs etc....also which ones are teaching hospitals?
3) what is the starting pay for a new grad???

Any answers would be much appreciated

Hello!

Sorry I am late, I am always standing on the curb when the train rolls by. I am from central PA and am an RN. Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

Just moved to Philly in Jan 08 and love it. Lots of opportunity for RN's. Currently I work in the cardiac cath lab at Presbyterian.

Re: Looking For Other Pa Nurses!!!!

Yikes...it has been years since I took the test. We had a Kaplan review course at Pitt. I got a few books and did them on my own. Good luck!

My college in PA offered a week long review course for $300.00 and it was well worth it. I know that Kaplan offers one. I would advise anyone to take a course, it breaks down how to read the questions, not panic at the test site, and how to think about the answers and how they apply to the question. Well worth it!

Hello and welcome. I used Saunders for the content and used Kaplans book for the study/answering techniques. They have a review book that sums up all of the ways to break down and answer questions ( looking for absolutes, eliminating similar answers, etc) I found it very helpful and you can look for it on Ebay to find it inexpensive. Good luck to you!
