Not quite a new nurse. From Pittsburgh area. Graduated in '96 (Pitt) and work in Long Term Care. Anyone else in LTC? I haven't been to the Horizon's Conference in years! Its nice to see they still have them
Not a recent grad but work in a rural community ER in North Central PA. Truly has a touch of" family" with staff, MDs and administration. Complete with all the squabbles that go along with an "extended family" but all in all a great place to work. This is home to the "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon".
Anyone for hiking, canoeing, fishing or camping? [or lots of snow at the present ; it'll probably be around till May! sigh!! ]

i live in pa not a new nurse but wouldn't it be nice if we could all get together and meet somewhere, older nurses could pow-wow with newer nurses and offer support and newer nurses give me hope for the future.
I'm a nursing student (grad Sept. 2003) in Philly, and I'm originally from York. I eventually want to go to CRNA school. Right now I'm looking at hospitals I want to apply to in the Philly area, anybody have any recommendations?
I thought I would resurrect this discussion. I'm still looking to meet other nurses in Pennsylvania. Any of you nurses or students have aspirations to go to graduate school, either anesthesia or anything else?
Anybody work in critical care right now? I'm in a cardiovascular surgical unit. I love finding out what others are doing differently, such as prevention of post operative arrhythmias. We give amiodarone basically. some facilities pace the patient post operatively.
We have done two esophagectomies on our small cardiovascular surgery unit. They are interesting to say the least, but very cumbersome also. These patients often do not do very well. The surgeons at my facility model the plan of care after Hershey Medical Center. That's right, Hershey, the home of the Hershey Bar in Pennsylvania.
Anyway, what hospitals do you all work at. I"m at the Susquehanna Health System in Lycoming County, pa.
