Hi there PA Nurses?
Any of you guys/gals work for CHOP (Philly)? I am considering applying as a new grad. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

CHOP -Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is an outstanding place to work.
It's a magnet facility and ranked as #1 Childrens Hospital in the US by US News.

It's the prefered hospital for my sons--spent time in their ER and SPU positive nursing experiences. Two of my staff currently have children being treated there for life threating illnesses and love the staff.

Know they have good inservice education!

Only real negatives: PARKING and city wage tax...although has come down some over past few years.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: Chop

I see from a posting back from July 2004 that you were considering applying at CHOP. I'm graduating in May and would love to work in the NICU at CHOP. I just was wondering if you are currently working there now and if so how do you like it? How was the interview process? Please let me know! Thanks!!! :Santa3:

Re: Chop

Hi fatdaddy,

Do you know of anyone that I can contact to get into CHOP? They have a lot of position posted on their website and I have applied to several of them (Nurse I), but I'm not getting any response. I ran into a girl that went to nursing school with me and she stated that she works there but she worked as a Nurse-aide during college. I believe that is how she got into CHOP. She said that they need nurses bad but I have sent several copies of my resume starting back in Nov. 2007, via website, and have not heard anything from them. If you know of anyone I can send it to directly, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Chop

I just accepted a job offer at Chop as a graduate nurse in the CICU. They do not have mandatory overtime.

Re: Chop

Did you ever hear back from Chop? I would try calling the nursing recruitment office. I was able to schedule an interview pretty quickly by talking with a nurse recruiter and I am applying from out of state.

Re: Chop

I agree with Kristadwn after you submit the online profile, call HR to "confirm that everything was received" and they will print off your information and submit it to the appropriate nurse recruiter. I spoke with HR prior to submitting my online profile and they also recommended that as a new graduate that I choose 1 area to pursue as opposed to applying for multiple positions.

Once I called to have my profile forwarded to HR, I received an e-mail in 24 hours from the recruiter and the process began from there...altogether, it took about five weeks, but I think part of that had to do with holidays (Christmas & New Year's).

Good luck!

Re: Chop

Does any one know what the health benefits are at CHOP? Exactly how much the plans cost? I am trying to figure out exactly how much house/apt I can afford.

Re: Chop

hey kristadwn...did you receive your welcome packet / offer letter in the mail yet? if not then when you receive that there will be a username and password to their new hire website and although i haven't thoroughly browsed that yet (r/t schoolwork lol) there might be additional information there...seems to be a lot of paperwork/information on that website so that might help.

when did you receive your offer? i got my packet about 3 weeks after the phone offer. what's your start date? i'm 7/14.

hope that helps.

cheers
