Online classes for nursing students

Hello,
I'm a faculty member at a MN Nursing school. My first semester students seem to struggle with online nursing classes. Most come to me stating they want lecture. Does anyone know of any evidence based research about online classes for first year nursing students?
Thanks

As a nursing student, I do not like my core nursing classes to be online. Classes on policy, ethics, research, etc. are more enjoyable online. However, any class such as fundamentals, med/surg, peds, etc. (any core class) are hard to fully comprehend without lecture.
