IV administration

I been asked to help teach IV therapy to LPNs. I have a textbook. I was wondering if there are any resourses online that would help reenforce the class material. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: IV administration

YSADL,
I have just put together a ppt and course outline in relation to IV therapy. I retrieved a lot of my information from the web as well as a package put together by our local hospital. What can I do to help?

Nancy,
Can you point me in the right direction regarding IV administration? I am working at a facility in the middle east. We deal with competency based practice (with skills check-lists). A certified IV nurse wrote the skills check list for IV therapy. My problem is this...
It requires 5 observed successful IV starts. This is a bit excessive I think. I am trying to find out why 5! One problem I have with this is that in the L&D area all the staff come with more than 4 yrs experience (some as much as 20+ yrs). The majority of this staff has started IVs all their careers. I think with the adult learning philosophy and the fact that we "recognize" prior learning this skills check list is over the top. What I have found in one "competency" text is that if someone has never performed the skill of IV starts, then three starts should be sufficient (obviously after course work and practice)
Am I wrong? Any suggestions where I can look for more information.
thanks
Melissa
