I am new to this forum so I will briefly introduce myself. I am BSN prepared and have been a nurse for 15 years. This year I began teaching full time at a local community college. I am asking for any clinical evaluation tools that educators out there may be using with their students. We want to revamp ours and I'm wanting some to look at for ideas. I'm particularly interested in tools that have specifics and a continuum instead of just Pass, Fail or Needs Improvement. However, any tools would be fine to get the creative juices flowing.
I am also a BScN prepared nurse, and have been practicing for many wonderful years. This year I have decided to share my nursing practice with a 4th year nursing student. I am totally shocked at what a horrible experience it has been. Now I have to do a final evaluation for my student. I have kept concise documentation of each clinical day, but I am completely stumped on the final evaluation which is due today.
Did you set objectives before you began? If you did, then you can evaluate her based on achievement of those objectives. Also, I believe in having students self-evaluate, with discussion of their evaluation at an exit meeting.
