Burnout...am I the only one?

Am I the only one feeling burnout at their job? I have been an LPN for only two years. I work in a memory care unit and work 12 hour shifts. I absolutely love my patients, but, the paperwork and the management are just about to get the best of me. The only great thing I can say is my supervisor has been the best you can imagine. I go to work with the mindset that my shift is going to be the best day yet and that I will make a difference, but, by 3pm I am "brain dead". I don't want to leave the nursing profession, but, I am seriously thinking about starting another career.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: Burnout...am I the only one?

Have you ever thought about a different area of nursing? Like home health or something. I hope things get better for ya!

I would consider another area as well, and/or going back to school to try for your RN which might open up even more options. I had a couple of teachers who did home health and loved it. Maybe you could even do traveling?
