Hi, I am from New Mexico and have 1 year left before I receive my ADN RN degree. My brother lives in Columbus and really wants me to relocate there after graduation. I have never been to Ohio. Any advice?

Ohio is my birthplace, and I happen to think it's a beautiful state to live in! I no longer live there, but have family & friends there that take me back there on occasion.

I did a travel nurse assignment in Columbus years ago, and loved the city. I lived in Dublin, Oh at the time. Dublin is a suburban town near Columbus. I don't know what it is like today, but I loved living there 15 years or so ago.

By the way....I'm considering a travel nurse assignment in Albuquerque, Gallup, or Shiprock in New Mexico. Which would you recommend, and which city would you steer clear of? Thanks!

I moved here 9 years ago from NW Ohio. What would you like to know? Lots of job opportunities. LOTS of traffic.

Try to search for the chamber of commerce website for Columbus Ohio.

There are many nice suburbs around Columbus.

OSU and OhioHealth and big hospital players in Columbus for jobs. I've been in Columbus for 4 years now. Traffic is crazy sometimes. Try to live close to your job at first if needed. Make sure you get a good real estate agent up here too. That will save you a bunch of trouble. Groceries are high here compared to SE Ohio.

Wow, the difference between Shiprock and Gallup vs Columbus is like night and day.

Shiprock is extremely rural, with a high level of poor residents and I would imagine a fairly small health care system. That said, I think it could be a very rewarding place to work.

Columbus, by contrast, is the home of some very large hospitals that draw patients from other states for care. There are also very specialized hospitals here, CA, MI, Trauma, etc.

As far as Dublin goes, it's far more developed than you probably remember, on both sides of the river. More restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, new schools etc.

I would contact the OH board of nursing. You need to get that license as soon as you can, sometimes they can take their time. I would at least see what all you need to do to get your license here. I work and live in downtown Columbus. I have traveled before coming here and besides the cold cold weather it is very rewarding and pleasant here. Do you have specific questions about what to do here or the hospitqals, etc.??

Are you still in the Columbus area?? I am planning on moving there in May. I am considering OSU or Ohio Health; I am an ER RN. What is your thoughts? What are some good Suburbs to live in? I have a daughter that will start High School.

Columbus is a great town, my daughter goes to school there and I also am looking to relocate. Other than state hospitals which private hospitals have Psych floors?
