UNC-Charlotte RN-BSN

Hi, all!

Just wondering if anyone has any info regarding UNC-Charlotte's RN-BSN program? I'm interested in their online program, they seem to have the least core requirements and the website says it can be completed in 1 calendar year. I tried emailing them, didn't get a response. TIA for any additional info!

OK, haven't had a reply yet. I've tried to contact several different people affiliated with the BSN program at UNC-Charlotte by email and phone with no reply, is this a bad sign? Would appreciate any info regarding this school and their program, tia!

Re: UNC-Charlotte RN-BSN

Thanks for replying, I see what you mean about the pass rate, but I'm already an RN, I'm interested in the BSN completion program. I was just wondering how the classes are, if it is mostly group discussions and papers, how helpful instructors are, etc. I'm looking for a program that won't require me to take a lot more prereqs and that doesn't totally consume my time and doesn't cost a fortune.

I plan on going this route also. Their website is a bear to navigate but here is where I found the most information-

Hope it helps.

Re: UNC-Charlotte RN-BSN

I contacted them by email and sent transcripts last fall. I finally got an email after about two months telling me they were being reviewed. I let it go because I wasn't that intent. Now, I have applied online and am getting my transcripts ready to mail with the distance education application. We'll see what happens.

Re: UNC-Charlotte RN-BSN

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! I actually have received 2 emails from them encouraging me to fax my transcripts for review, they gave me contacts and seemed pretty friendly. I also contacted UNC-W by phone, just found out they also have an online program. They promised to email me info, have yet to receive it.

Not sure if you would like to stay in NC...I am looking at schools for RN-BSN programs and I noticed that both MUSC and Clemson do not require too much extra for their RN-BSN program.

UNC-CH also has an RN-BSN program, and I think ECU does as well.

Re: UNC-Charlotte RN-BSN

I don't have any experience with the online courses, but I can tell you that I went to UNCC for my freshman year and hated it. I could not transfer out fast enough! In my opinion, it is just a crappy school all around. Other people have already mentioned the state of the nursing department. The general atmosphere of the campus is pretty sad too. Despite the huge student body, almost everyone goes home on the weekends, so there is no "college feel" to it. Maybe you will consider this a good thing, but the classes, frankly, are worthless. I didn't learn jack and got a 4.0 (and I do NOT say that to brag). Classes are all huge so the profs don't care about you. Your adviser will not care about you, if he ever even takes the time to meet with you (I don't want to go on too much of a tangent, so I'll just say the academic advisers suck). I would highly recommend going somewhere else. Judging by the way my freshman year went, I don't think "learning" here will prepare you to be a good nurse.

Also, the fact that you emailed them and didn't get a response should be a good indicator of what you will experience there.

Good luck!
