Hello there. My name is Mary. I've always wanted to live in NY. So...here's my chance. Now... the only thing... I'm clueless about where to live, how the hell I'll pay for a 1200/mo. apt. when here in Houston....it's dirt cheap in the eyes of new yorkers. Any and all info would be of sooo much help.

I'm waiting for the NY ed. dept to respond to my application. i'm waiting for that license that says I can be an RN up there keep your fingers crossed! I've been looking online at the many different hospitals... The one that I enjoyed reading about, Interfaith Hospital... seemed cool and then a girlfriend said that I shouldn't live in Bedford/Stuyvesant...a bad neighborhood... Any advice?

Hi all,
Once upon a time I lived in Western NY, a little town called Gowanda. I went to nursing school at Trocaire College (south Buffalo) and got an excellent education! My first job was at Cuba Memorial Hospital, Cuba NY.
I often wonder how life is like as I haven't lived there in over 25 years. Moved to the south 2 years after graduation... I only miss the snow when I want to go skiing

Anyway just wanted to say hi and that I have fond memories of my growing up years in WNY...

I've lived in Queens, NY for over thirty years. I would suggest that if you are coming here alone, you might want to think about living and working in Manhattan. It's where everything is happening and you might find it easier to meet people in the "city". Then after you've been here for a while you can check out the outer boroughs and see if you want to become part of the bridge and tunnel crowd. You need to come here and visit the city, see the neighborhoods and find out where you can afford to live. That's my advice, hope it's helpful.

Name is Tommy and I am in Rochester, NY. It is my hope to get into Monroe Community College nursing program. As of Spring 2005 they're suppose be expanding their program. I have my B.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology, the major was Applied Arts and Science meaning I studied different field such as social work, criminal justice and quality.
