Does anyone have any information on Summer Employment for a Nursing Student? Im a first year student in an Associate Degree Program and would really like to get some more experience over the summer while I'm not in classes. I applied for two postitions already, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated : )

Also, I have CNA certification if that would help.

I would say externships like the one offered by NS-LIJ, but I don't know when the application deadlines are. I had an interview for a NS-LIJ externship the other day. (I'm also first year ADN, second semester)

Try Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, if you are in the NYC area. They have an excellent summer externship program, and they are still accepting applications in April.
If not, don't worry. Get ANY job in a hospital, or volunteer in the area where you would like to specialize. I am currently looking for jobs, and believe me, ANY hospital experience is helpful and shows that you are passionate about nursing. Looks way better than working at Starbucks. Good luck!

How was d interview? i have my interview with them in may----i am so nervous-------was it a tough interview?

For Brooklyn, my friends did summer externship at Methodist and VA Brooklyn.
I also heard that Maimonides has one too.
But I don't know what are the deadlines for these hospital.
You should contact the hospitals ASAP!

hey im not so sure about Methodist because when I called and asked they said they had nothing available. But feel free to call yourself.
