Southern Tier Area

by GooeyRN

Does anyone work in the Southern Tier Area, specifically Broome County? Can anyone suggest a good place to work? I have been out of work for a year now (I had a baby) and am looking to return this late winter. I have worked Psych in PA and Med-Surg in PA, and briefly in LTC in PA. I do not want to return to Med-Surg or LTC, I am pretty open to trying out just about any specialty. Does anyone LOVE where they work(ed)?

Hey there -- I went to BU for nusing school.....did clinicals in lourdes and wilson the whole time and DEFINATELY enjoyed wilson. was actually going to stay up there a year to work on the step-down unit. People are lovely, high standards of medical care, really enjoyed myself. good luck and congrats on your new baby!

Thanks for your info! I delivered at Lourdes. It was nice there but I don't want to do med-surg again. I feel I did my time! I have never been to Wilson in Johnson City. I did interview several years ago at Binghamton General on the psych floor, but long story short I didn't take the job. I think they pay better than Lourdes.

Anyone else know anything about the southern tier area?

Well, there is the Greater Binghamton Health Center - which is a psychiatric inpatient and outpatient hospital.

I thought of there. Have you or anyone you know ever worked there? Is it a good place to work? Do you know how nurses are treated/ratio's?
