Re: NY hospitals with excellent Nursing Benefits?
I just completed the nursing department's orientation at my hospital and will start orienting to my unit, Labor and Delivery, on Tuesday. However, the overall atmosphere is friendly and warm. People will say good morning to you in the elevators and as you walk up and down the corridors. The people I've encountered in a few dapartments are pleasant and they seem to be happy to work there. Granted you have a few sour apples in all places, but for the most part I have no complaints.
I am orienting with nurses from Pediatrics, Med/Surg, Surgery, and a clinic and the ADN's from those departments are enthusiastic about the new nurses. They are willing to answer questions and to share some of their own experiences as well. Some will be honest that not all is perfect, but they offer advise on how to get past the harder times we will encounter.
I know some will say that I am seeing things through rose colored glasses because I am still new there, but based on my conversation with many people that I have met in the last 2 weeks, the hospital I work at is a place where many nurses start and end their careers. To me, that says a lot.
If you have any specific questions, send me a PM and we can discuss.
Thanks!
