The Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing

Good Morning,

I just recently submitted an application to The Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing in Mt. Vernon, NY for the Spring 2008 - Evening Program. Unfortunately, I was a little bit too late for the Spring 2007 entry. So far, it looks as though I may be well on my way. I'm just waiting for my transcripts to be sent from my colleges and my reference letter from my MD. Has anyone graduated from this A.A.S Degree program or currently at Hopfer? Just looking for a little insight.

Thank you.

No, I'm not an LPN. As I stated previously, I have my B.S. Degree in Health Education and Promotion but looking to take a different path by becoming an RN/NP. So far, I have all the pre-requisites and sent in the application along with a $40.00 processing fee. I did finally receive a letter in the mail on Saturday indicating that "eligible candidates will receive and invite to take the (NET). I'm praying that hopefully I will be accepted into this program. I'm still waiting on my colleges to send my official transcripts so the ball can start rolling. My surgeon wrote me a wonderful personal reference letter to attest to my capabilities, etc. So now, I just wait in anticipation.

I applied to the Spring 07 evening class and I am taking the NET on Saturday. I will let you guys know if I get in within the next few weeks. I heard about the program from another graduate and she had nothing but praises for them. The admissions counselor, Ms. Farrior is awesome and has been nothing but patient.

Hey Olivia, good luck with the NET this Saturday. Did you purchase the NET study guide? Was it helpful? I will keep you posted on my process. You can e-mail me at idealisticaquarian@gmail.com

Ciao!

Ciao!
I did not purchase the NET guide, but I did purchase a study guide from Barons and used an online testing guide. The test was way easier than I expected. Here is the online guide that I used: http://www.testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm

I should have my test results by Saturday, and an admissions decision by the first week of November.

I also applied to this school and I am waiting to hear back from them. I applied for Fall '07. Not sure how many applicants they are accepting for their fall '07 class. The wait is excrutiating. I am keeping my fingers . I already took the NET..so we shall see.

I also applied to Cochran I have an interview later this week. I am so nervous. I dont' know if the interview is a good thing or bad thing as I heard there is a possibility they interview all applicants. The school seems to offer smaller clinical classes and lots of hands on experience. It's my first choice.
