Is it true when you work for 1199, the union pays up to nine credits per semester. How long do you have to be member in the union for this to take effect? Thank you!

I really don't know, my mother is a member and 1199 is paying for me at LIU, it isn't much $2k, compared to a $12k semester bill, but it helps. I'm in the Joseph Tauber scholarship fund of 1199, where members children ( me) can get a scholarship. The amount I recieved was based upon my parents income and other small factors. They also have a tuition reimbursement program for members. I asked my mother and she said that you have to be in 1199 for atleast a year before you apply for any programs- sorry. Go in to the union its in midtown, near times square and ask some questions, that might help, Good Luck!

You have to be a member of the Union for 1 year before you are eligible for any Tuition reimbursemet/ tuition voucher. They pay upfront for CUNY/SUNY schools via voucher. They give you tuition reimbursement for non CUNY/SUNY schools. The union pays for /reimburses up to 8 credits per semester only if you are in a RN program. If you are completing your pre reqs, the union will only pay for/reimburse up to 6 credits.

Thank you! for the information, I figured like everything else you had to be in the union for a year. It is v. annoying to find out I could of had my tution paid in full, if I was part of 1199, I'm only getting $3000 a year towards my tution from my current employer .

Well if it makes you feel any better... Most CUNY & SUNY schools are about $120 - $160 per credit... which works out to about $720-$960 for 6 credits. So ... your hospital is doing great!!!
