Alright, so what school are you all going to choose?

For all those people who have a few choices of schools, where are you going to go?? I am feeling the pressure...and still have NO idea, so I am just wondering if anyone else has made any decisions.

Re: Alright, so what school are you all going to choose?

I know only I can make this decision, but I would like some advice. I have been in Hawaii for 4+ years and want to make sure I realize what driving awhile to get some place really means, I mean I go 8 miles back and forth to work. So now I am looking at schools and want to be realistic about the drive that may be in store for me, the weather, and even gas prices...so what do you all think? here is what I would be looking at for a commute....
Concord: 52 minutes, 42.55 miles
Stratham: 43 minutes, 21.27 miles
Manchester: 39 minutes, 30.05 miles
Now knowing that school is going to be such a challenge, what are your opinions? Should I really let distance be a factor in my choice? I just am really having a hard time with this, I guess I have so much on my plate right now that making decisions gets even harder for me, so bear with me....I value all our opinions!

Roxxy Are those commute times one way or round trip? Don't forget those times are going to get longer depending on traffic and weather.

All of those times would be one way.... I keep thinking about weather and traffic too. I should probably pick a closer one. Stratham would be all back roads for me, so that could be bad if the weather is bad...I have an all wheel drive vehicle but still...

Keep in mind that you're going to be going to clinicals in different places one or two days a week, too. I don't know if any of the schools you're looking at give you any sort of choice in clinical sites, but if not you'd want to look at how far you may have to travel for those.

Re: Alright, so what school are you all going to choose?

I live in Lancaster, NH. I'm looking at going to either Berlin, NH which is about a 40 min drive, or NHTI, where I would live in the dorms.

Berlin is local, and I'd be able to stay at home with the parents, but I'm actually waitlisted for the program, and have no guarantee that I'd be in this fall to take classes. I can enter as Health Science Tech., but that's not good enough.

I think that I'm going with NHTI, as it offers me larger hospitals. I want to try to get into a trauma program, either in an ED or an ICU. The long term goal is to be a flight nurse.

Rivier unless something changes and if that happens I will have to drop out.

It's 66 miles one way- over 1.25 hours in good traffic (can't even imagine bad traffic) and two tolls each way so I am thinking I need to trade my durango which gets 12 MPG on a good day.

My gram is in a hursing home and waiting to move in with me and needs a lot of care. Not sure if I can handle it all and be so far away from home.
