i have a few friends in apollo college and they told me "no one ever fails, they want our 40 grand" they went onto tell me that their school was made to suceed , while others are not. i graduated from CCSN now CSN and we had alot of people fail.that dosen't mean CSN is bad.. umph.. somehow i always get into these things.. are private nursing schools better than the community schools? i think not , they have to all meet a certain critera. thats why i wanted to know how everyone is doing. i donot like to argue with people and somehow i got wrangled into this discussion... arrggh... also does apollo ever go to valley or DSH or spring valley hospital? i have never seen them.. what hospitals do they go to ( i sure don't want to ask these girls)... also is it true apollo is now a BSN program? i think you are all wonderful to go to nursing school , and because i graduated from CCSN dosen't make it the perfect school. don't ever give up...

I've seen this question a lot. Actually my clinical instructor just mentioned today about being recruited to work at Apollo but wasn't sure about teaching at a college without accreditation. I honestly think that if someone has that kind of money, or if tuition is not a problem...and also if they have no plans on pursuing any other degrees or specializing after they become an RN--then they are fortunate to have a new school that is not so competitive as CSN, and only takes half the time. I would have gone to Apollo if a) I was rich or b) had no plans on pursuing my Bachelor's or Master's. I have classmates at CSN that tell me that they wish they went the Apollo route because they know for certain they will be satisfied as an RN and have no plans on going further. The UNLV RN-BSN program specifically states that you must be an RN who graduated from an accredited NLNAC school to be accepted into the bridge program. However, I think that Apollo graduates might still have opportunities to pursue BSN's and MSN's from schools like University of Phoenix-- so it's not a definite lost cause. Let's hope that they do get accredited soon so that more faith is put on the newbie school. We still really need nurses
My friend that goes to Apollo has clinicals at North Vista right now but not sure where else they are or what "color" they are. LOL, you know like I do CSN is branded by the white

it's nice to hear from you desertrain, i understand the trouble of getting out of bed to go to school. when do you graduate? you will make it.
apollo goes to north vista.. i wondered because i never see any of their students in the other hospitals. well , i love being a RN , i was a LPN for 21 years. i work the same unit and so the switch over wasn't real big deal. but i hope to move onto something new in a few months. what semester are you in at csn? i loved that program and they gear you toward boards through out the whole program. it's tried and true... keep me updated on how you are doing.. i would love to hear..

To get full approval from the state board, nursing schools have to get nationally accredited, which they can't do until they graduate their first class, and also they must achieve a first-time pass rate of 80 percent for the NCLEX. It will probably only be a matter of time until Apollo does that, they just need time. Graduates shouldn't be held back from pursuing higher degrees once the school is accredited.

However, the provisional approval by the NV BON makes it so they're eligible to sit NCLEX for NV state licensure. I'd worry about mobility if I ever wanted to move out of state as a graduate of that program (until the program is accredited). Wouldn't it suck if you were an out of state student and you weren't able to get licensed back in your home state because of accredidation issues? Ick.

Nonetheless, one of my professors is a member of the BON and says it's a good program, curriculum wise. I believe they're going to make their way up north to Reno shortly, too.

They're opening in AZ as well. The nursing program is new (before it was just an LPN program) and interesting since most schools are full up as soon as they open spots.

Makes me wonder though, what if you graduate while they are not nationally accredited. Then the next couple years, they gain that accreditation - do your credits and degree get grandfathered or does it only affect the new students?

but im not sure about valley anymore...

i think apollo is working on trying to get a bsn program but for now..its adn...and are linked with the university of phoenix (for apollo students who want a bsn)

i dont think private schools are any better...to be honest, i went to a public school first and i felt their criteria and teachers were much tougher than private...

how do i know this info??

I graduated from Apollo! lol

passed nclex with 75 questions

and getting a job prolly in the next few weeks

rite now...apollo might not be so hot since they are a brand new school and will make mistakes with the first class or 2......but students are still passing the nclex though!

apollo colors are royal blue......the uniforms im kinda jealous of is nsc's....the khaki one...and not their old white ones...i heard from students that the new scrubs were pricey too

Just adding an update...

I spoke to one of the instructors of the school recently..

so I guess they are adding:

UMC
Southern Hills
St. Rose - Siena

I believe they no longer go to De Lima because i believe unlv took over that spot.
