Just recieved a letter from the Univ. of Penn. that stated that they would be contacting me to schedule an interview. Anyone ever interviewed there before?

Thanks,

I can't really give much info about the program specifically but it is not really that new. The U. of Penn took over the Penn. Hospital school of nurse anesthesia from Temple. Technically it is new, but the Anesthesia program has been around for a while. Good luck to you all in your interviews.

Interview

Pleasetakeme,

I do not know anything about this program and have only been on two interviews with three left to go. Basically everyone who has advised me has said the same thing. Be honest and do not try to BS through the interview. Be yourself and if you do not know the answer to a question tell them so. Also, take your time to think. If the answer to something is not obvious tell them you want to think about it for a minute. During that 30 to sixty seconds think about what you were asked and then answer. Sometimes what they are asking is something you know from basic nursing. I heard one applicant say they were asked by an interviewer what if a patient has no PA catheter and I want some indication of their cardiac output. What would a good indicator of adequate cardiac output be. The answer was urine output. This is something if you did not immediately know the answer you could probably think about it to give a good answer. Capillary refill is another, strong peripheral pulses another. Don't forget what you already know. Relax, you have done extremely well otherwise you would not be interviewing. Good luck and be yourself.

I don,t know what the interview is like for Penn, but the director is a great guy, very easy going, and even helps those of us who do not attend his school. The assistant director is also very pleasant.
