Question Webster, and St. Louis Area Hospitals..

We are thinking of moving to the St. Louis area. I am curious about the area, the hospitals, and work as a CRNA as well as an RN. I would like to work in a large ICU for awhile then poss apply to Webster, or the new Jewish Hospital Program. I have heard the area has good schools and hospitals, just looking for more input on this potential plan for our future.

Thanks ahead of time!!!

Hi mommy! I currently live and work in the St. Louis area. I really like it here personally. I live in the metro east (Illinois) but work in MO. There are a couple of good anesthesia programs in this area, and several hospitals in which you could gain some good experience before applying to school. As I understand it, Barnes' program is not up and running just yet, but will be soon. Your other options in the area include Webster and Southern IL University Edwardsville (where I'll be attending in the fall - YAY!). As I said, there are some good hospitals in which to work in St. Louis. Barnes and St. Louis University are both level I trauma centers and teaching hospitals and would provide good experience due to high acuity patients. St. Luke's has an excellent heart program from what I hear, and St. John's Mercy has a good burn ICU if that's to your liking.

Thanks RNLou, May contact you later for more info on areas to live, won't do anything for a little while. Thinking about trying to work a day a week or something and driving from here, its 120 miles. Not sure if that will work with the kids, etc.
Hey there Trauma, I have been so busy, just lurking when I get a chance. Working on Patho, playing with the girls and contemplating my next move etc. :-)
Are you excited yet????

Hi, mommyof2grls! I know this is an old post, but if you're still looking for info. on St. Louis, please let me know. I have lived here my whole life in different parts of the city. I don't know a whole lot about the hospitals (not an RN yet), but St. Louis in general, yes. Feel free to contact me!
