Unhappy Taking the GRE

I take the GRE on Thursday and am somewhat nervous. Does anyone know how UAB weighs GRE results. They say 1000 combined.

Apontius,
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but UAB does accept students that have made less than 1000, but you will be on probation for the 1st semester. During that time you must maintain a 3.0, if you do not, then they can dismiss you from the program. Also note that in graduate school, you must maintain at least a 3.0 anyway...

that's good to know and thank you. I took it yesterday and made a 990 on my verbal and quant. 440/550 respectively. I submitted my scores so I hope there is still hope in my future. UAB is not the only school I'm applying to. do you have any further suggestions? My GPA is a 2.9 overall but a 3.6 in my BSN program.

thanks
Amy

First of all know this... There is HOPE, you just might have to work a little harder. With that said, I would recommend you do what I did...

Schedule a meeting with the director of the program(s) that are of interest to you. Bring your transcripts and any other questions that you have.

I did this at UAB and the director looked over my transcripts, averaged all of my science courses; averaged the last 30 or so hours of my BSN courses, and with those two averages, he then came up with a final average of what he looks at for admission to the program (jeeze, that's a lot of averaging)

He will make recommendations of what you need to do (i.e. retake any courses that you made a C and bring it up to an A); if UAB is the school that you want to attend, then be sure to do EXACTLY what he tells you to do; and when you have, schedule another meeting with him and show him that you have. This is the way that I had to do it....

I hope that helps...Let me know if you have any other questions and I will do my best to assist...
