Good luck to all entering their first year. Relax, take deep breaths and you'll do fine.
When you get to clinical, ask yourself, "is this the safe thing to do?" Also, if you think it, do it...ie....I think I need to start a 2nd line.....her heart rate and B/P keep dropping, maybe I need to give her something for that.....surgeon says you don't need to Type and Screen/Cross, we won't be loosing that much...HA! .....that airway looks suspicious? get the difficult intuabtion cart in or outside your room even if "someone" else says you won't need it....All of these examples are based on experience and intuition...use this to your advantage.
Also, Anesthesia school is not, not, not a competition. You are already in and you just need to compete with yourself. You need to get the grade so that you can continue on. Don't ever get wrapped up in what your classmates are doing. It does not matter to you whatsoever. You get the grade to graduate and I assure you, your future employer is not going to check to see if you scored better than your classmates on that Pharmacology exam. They just want to see that you pass the Certifiying Exam.
Again Good Luck and Peace
