Question Opportunity in KS,OK,or MO

I live in the SE corner of Kansas. I am an 1 1/2 hours away from Tulsa, Ok & Joplin, Mo & 2 hours away from Wichita. Is there a high demand for CRNA's in these areas. I would also be interested in what the average salary is for a CRNA is in these areas.

I am from the Wichita area and there seems to be a shortage, although Kansas is not know for paying as much as Oklahoma. If you are looking to relocate to a different city you might try Oklahoma City. If you have any questions feel free to send me a email @

I am a CRNA in Topeka, KS. There is an incredible shortage of CRNA's currently across the country. 65% of CRNA's are 45 years of age or older. Approximately 40% of CRNA workforce will retire in the next 5 years. In the state of Kansas the median CRNA age is 50. Schools of Nurse Anesthesia graduated 881 students last year. There are over 1000 employment advetisements for CRNA's in print and on the Internet. Many hospitals and groups need more than just one CRNA. The demand for CRNA's more than exceeds the supply. This is good for CRNA's, in that we can command higher salaries and have greater job selection, but it is bad for hospitals and surgeons who experience delays or long operating days because there is no anesthesia available to do their cases. The patient ultimately suffers as they may experience a delayed or canceled surgery (if their case gets bumped by an emergency). They may have to select a date for their surgery that works for the hospital's anesthesia dept or group, rather than one that works with their schedule. Admissions to schools of Nurse Anesthesia are down and can probably be attributed in some part to a decline in Nursing School Admisssions. There has never been a better time to be a CRNA. Our clinical expertise and quality anesthesia service is in high demand and will continue to be for sometime. If you are a CRNA contact me and I will discuss employment opportunities within our facility. If you are a student nurse, I would encourage you to consider becoming part of a wonderful profession.
