NEW GRADSCurrent student looking for Curriculum Vitae help

Hello,
I have had kind of a whirlwind week. I contacted the University of Iowa at the beginning of the week and now I am going to do a site visit the 28th. The director just contacted me tonight and wants a CV. I have no idea where to start. I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me or would be willing to e-mail me a copy of theirs. I would be very greatful.

Re: NEW GRADSCurrent student looking for Curriculum Vitae help

I know that there are websites that help you put together a CV/resumé (although I don't know any of them offhand!) I'm sure you could do a quick search and find some ...

Re: NEW GRADSCurrent student looking for Curriculum Vitae help

http://jobsearch.about.com/od/curriculumvitae/a/curriculumvitae.htm is one good site. Advise from http://careers.ucr.edu/students/cv.htm about Using a Curriculum Vitae states:

A curriculum vitae (CV) is the traditional standard for presenting your qualifications for academic employment. A professional curriculum vitae can be lengthy and is inappropriate for most jobs in the public and private sector, other than research jobs or corporate "partnerships" with institutions of higher education. Assume that all academic positions at four-year schools require a curriculum vitae and that other positions should be sent resumes, unless a curriculum vitae is specifically requested.

One exception is that community colleges sometimes request resumes. We recommend that you use a functional resume in these cases. All academic applications should include a detailed cover letter that addresses skills, knowledge, and abilities required by any job announcement.

This site references an on line brochure that covers this area more extensively and includes information about format, information to include or exclude, placement of footers, and other issues of interest. The brochure also includes a sample curriculum vitae and cover letter.

Don't mix Resume and C.V. Colleges usually want true CV's if that is what they have requested. Make no mistake - this is part of your interview and you are judged and graded on this. If you are poor at this, let one of the services help you.
