Need ideas for project for MSN completion..

My program allows a student to complete a project or an actual thesis as a part of graduating with a MSN. The project can be anything related to anesthesia.
Several paths can be taken such as a literature review (compilation of known knowledge), a case study (in-depth review of a particularly interesting case you have personally done), or an actual project. Some past projects have been things such as measuring the amount of pressure in OETT bulbs and asking pts to attempt to bite the top lip with bottom teeth and trying to ascertain a more accurate MP score.
My problem is not knowing what to start with. What do you guys think would be an interesting topic or project? I have the biggest writer's block on this. Oh and forget the thesis, cause that ain't happening here.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

One thing you may want to look at is what your clinical site(s) use and don't use for anesthesia ... I was having the same problem you are until I asked a few of the CRNA's what they'd want to listen to (we have to present our projects to all of the lower classes and the CRNA's at the end of our last semester). Most of the CRNA's I talked to wanted to hear about either new drugs or new techniques that the hospital doesn't use much. So we came up with Dilaudid, Dexmedetomidine and Remifentanil as drugs least used before/during/after surgery ... now I just need to come up with a question that revolves around one of them. Good luck on your search and let us know what you come up with!

what about those machines that measure a person's loc when under? i don't know much about them, but i saw them used on a discovery channel show. they help you know exactly how sedated someone is. you reach for a number between 40 and 60 iirc. 80 is waking up.

I'm completing undergrad research on Human Patient Simulators (HPS). There is some research out there on Nurse Anesthesia and HPS.

Here's a link to my school's HPS website:

I don't know if you'd have access to a HPS, but they are state-of-the-art tools for anesthesia work and research.

that's what the company claims. however... a classmate of mine is doing his project on bis. they are not terribly accurate, if you were doing a total tiva with propofol yeah its pretty accurate, other than that i wouldnt give it a whole lot of support.
just my humble opinion and experience in it's use. i strongly believe that if you titrate to a bis number mistakes will be made.
