Kaiser/CRNA program

I'm starting the Kaiser program this Fall and was wondering if anyone is coming with me (woohoo!) or had any tips/advice for me.
Thanks!

Re: Kaiser/CRNA program

Well I am not going to be a classmate of yours but I was planning on applying there for the Fall of 2008. Any tips or suggestions for me. I have all my paperwork and whatnot completed just need to send the application in and wait to hear back. How was the interview process? Thanks for any tips and good luck!

Congrats first and foremost! You beat out alot of other applicants and that says alot. My wife is in the program now and all I have to say is make sure that your private life is WELL IN ORDER!! If your married life is shaky, fix it first. The KP program demands all of your time, and you will not be able to fix your marriage and pass your first semester at the same time. Make sure that your spouse or girlfriend are aware of the committment that lays ahead. Date night will resume after 2 years. It is also important to have a good solid support structure. I left my job to become a stay at home dad so my wife can give 100% to the program, and I can maintain our life with our child. Be sure to freshen up your study skills, as trying to relearn those habits come the November Crunch, will be near impossible. All this plus a positive look on life, knowing that its only for 2 years, and the independence that you gain after graduation, should see you thru the firestorm that you are about to go into. Enjoy your summer!

Re: Kaiser/CRNA program

as a kaiser graduate, i can tell you it will be a blast. the program is great. they will teach you every little thing that you need to know. you will drive a lot. you will get sick and tired of being told what to do by crabby old lady CRNA's about halfway through the program. you will drive a lot. you will hate driving to and working at UCLA. you will love john nagelhout's pharm classes. you should love the regional rotation at the navy. you will graduate having been exposed to hundreds of different ways of doing anesthesia, something that most programs cannot say. you will drive a lot.

Re: Kaiser/CRNA program

For those of you in this program already, and me, an ASN student, are there any tips you could give. I have noticed that they are one of the programs that only require ONE year ICU (are there others? i dont mind working, just want to get the show on the road). If you dont mind, give me some credentials so i can see what steps to take!

thanks alot.

why would you hate working there? I just started working at UCLA (as a crit care RN) and it seems they are pro education/CRNA.
